Finding the right pushchair to suit you and your child is never easy as there is such a wide range of new products available for mothers to buy. After searching endlessly online, looking in shops, and many months of discussion and deciding, I finally chose the Silver Cross Pioneer Travel System, and a whole year on I am still in love and very pleased with my purchase!

For the full Silver Cross Pioneer Travel System, I paid a total RRP of £660.
Silver Cross does give you the option of buying the Pioneer travel system separately so that you can buy it in pieces rather than all together in bulk. However, this can work out to be costlier than when you buy it all together as one. You can also buy added accessories for the pram at an additional cost, which I decided not to do. Some of the accessories include;
- Reversible seat liner (matching colours available) – £30.00
• Changing bag (matching colours available) – £40.00
• Parasol (matching colours available) – £30.00
• Additional hood and apron pack (matching colours available – £100.00
The Pioneer pram is available to buy in a variety of colours which I think is an added bonus. Although I decided to go for a classic black and chrome look, I do love the bright colours that the pram comes in. Some of the colours available are;
- Vintage Red
- Vintage Blue
- Vintage Pink
You can also choose which colour you want the chassis to be in, either black or chrome.
The travel system arrived in two large boxes. I couldn’t wait to open the boxes and get the pram out to put it all together and test it out before my son was born. There was a part of me worrying that it might be extremely hard to put together, but it really wasn’t that hard or complicated to do at all. I put the newborn carrycot in straight away, ready for my son’s arrival.
One of the best features of this pram is the large shopping basket that it comes with. Since my son has been born, we have shopped and shopped and managed to easily store everything underneath the pram without a problem. The shopping basket measures 43cmx 56cm x 26cm. The basket is strong with a maximum weight is 5kg. Being a mum of two this was defiantly in my specification when I was searching for the right pram. During my searches, I did notice that a lot of the new prams had extremely small baskets underneath them or none at all.
Another feature that I really like is the leatherette and chrome adjustable handle. I think it looks beautiful and feels luxurious. The handle is so easily adjustable which I love, especially when I am constantly adjusting the handlebar to suit my height depending on whether I am wearing flat shoes or heels. The handle adjusts to four different positions, and to change the position, it is really simple. All you have to do is press the button in the center of the handle and slide the bar up or down to one of the four heights.
One of the dilemmas that we had when we were searching for a pram where the tires and from this I had to make a decision whether to buy the Wayfair or the Pioneer. I chose the Pioneer because of the 10” wheels that are suitable for any terrain. I love walking and going on adventures, so I wanted to make sure that we had a pram suitable for all of our random journeys. The front wheels can easily be locked into a position if you need it with the clips that are located just above the wheels. The breaks are super simple to use also. In the past, this had been an issue with various prams that I had used for my eldest son. The breaks on the Pioneer are simple and effective and located just above the right back wheel. To turn them off you just press the green button which is just above the breaks.
I bought the Pioneer pram a year ago now, and so far I have used every bit of it. I have most definitely got my money’s worth out of the travel system. The newborn carrycot is perfect for newborns; it’s cosy and comfy for your child, and also spacious. The car seat again is wonderful, easy to use and was perfect for my son. The only issue I have with the car seat is having to use the adapters when you want to slot it into the pram, so if you’re having a day out remember to pack the car seat adaptors otherwise you’re not going to be able to use it in the pram! Currently, we have just started to use the pushchair seat which I love because it is reversible, which allows you to easily change your babies seating position so that he can face you or face the forward. Adjusting the sitting position is also easy to use and convenient. All you have to do is pull a little lever at the back of the chair and move the seat into one of the three positions.
Folding the pram is probably the only downside to the Pioneer travel system, especially if you are trying to fit it into a car boot as it is still quite bulky. Also reassembling the pram back into position can seem kind of scary as its stiff and makes a noise, feeling like you have broken it as you put it back up.
Overall I absolutely love the Silver Cross Pioneer Travel System Pram! It is one of the best purchases that I have ever made, and I think I made a good choice in choosing this pram for my family. I rate this pram a full five stars!
